August 1, 2024: HELM Miyako No-Date Variation We're pleased to announce a no-date variation of the HELM Miyako is now available, featuring the Miyota 9039 movement, for an extremely clean and elegant look. Other changes for all variations include a modified case that accommodates a wider variety of accessory straps, and some additional polishing details on the bracelet. June 1, 2024: Assortment Changes In order to make way for a few new models and a couple of new variations that are currently in the development pipeline, we recently had to make some tough choices about our existing assortment. Already discontinued or soon to be discontinued are the 03AR2 variation of the Komodo and the 10:00 crown variations of the Khuraburi. These slower selling variations were tying up inventory dollars and storage space which we think can be better spent on the development of new models or additional variations of existing models. Since 2015, many of our straps have been available on Amazon.com. While this was a good way to make them more conveniently accessible to customers in the U.S.A., there have always been headaches associated with the fulfilled-by-Amazon process. This spring, as the hassles became more time consuming, we decided to remove the last of our inventory from the Amazon warehouses and close our Amazon storefront. Weighing just 145 grams on the full length bracelet, 110 grams on a rubber strap or 90 grams on nylon, this lightweight version of the Vanuatu practically disappears on the wrist, while the brushed ceramic bezel insert offers additional scratch resistance. For more details, or to order, please click here. January 1, 2021: HELM CS1 Canvas Strap ― Long Version We're pleased to announce the HELM CS1 canvas strap is now available in a long version. The standard version is ideal for 6.0 to 7.5 inch wrists, while the long version will fit 7.0 to 8.5 inch wrists. Fully submersible and available in four colors (with a choice of three buckle styles), the CS1 is a great alternative to rubber, leather, nylon or stainless steel. December 15, 2020: Waiting List System Implemented for Watch Purchases After experiencing repeated web site and shopping cart issues related to heavy site traffic during our first-come-first-serve sales, and after considering feedback about the sales process from many customers and would-be customers, we decided in early December to implement a new waiting list procedure for future watch sales. To join the waiting list for a particular watch, use the signup form at the bottom of each watch page. When stock is available, we'll contact interested buyers in the order in which they joined the list with instructions about how to make a purchase. Buyers will have 48 hours to make a purchase before their name is removed from the list and their buying opportunity is passed to the next buyer on the list. We'll also conduct occasional "lottery" sales during which we'll draw names at random from the entire waiting list (so even if you're at the bottom of the list, you may have a chance to purchase a watch sooner than expected). November 15, 2019: Vanuatu Pre-Order The Vanuatu pre-order wrapped up in mid-November and production launched that same week. We're pleased to announce the HELM RS1 rubber strap is now in stock and available for immediate shipping. Available in three colors, the RS1 is an excellent option in or out of the water, when comfort is paramount. February 22, 2019: What's New for the Khuraburi After a long wait, the third production of the Khuraburi is nearly here and includes just a few minor changes compared to the previous production. The second hand on the blue/white dial variations (02AR3 & 02AL3) now includes a luminous orange tip (like the other dials) rather than a non-luminous blue tip as before. The numerals on the bezel have been angled slightly to better follow the curvature of the bezel, and the 'H' logos on the dials are now flat rather than raised and are printed with a matte ink. This latest production will officially be the V3. November 18, 2018: Production Updates
The first production of the Komodo 300m Automatic and the third production of the Khuraburi are nearly complete. However, we're still in development on the new diver's extension clasp which will come standard with all stainless bracelets and which is holding up production of the Komodo and Khuraburi bracelets. We hope to have everything squared away in time to begin selling watches in early March, along with our new RS1 rubber strap. Meanwhile, the next production of the Vanuatu should be ready by late March. Below, a peek at the four Komodo dial variations. June 15, 2018: Production Updates Production of the Komodo (1st production), Khuraburi (3rd production) and Vanuatu (6th production) is currently underway. We hope to release the Komodo in January and expect to have more of the Khuraburi in stock at around that same time. The Vanuatu should be available again around February. Unfortunately, a slight production delay has pushed the anticipated in-stock date to the end of February, but we did receive some early production samples of the two new blue dial options, which are looking quite nice! A couple small changes on this production include a slight reshaping of the domed crystal so that the edge of the crystal is now more flush with the bezel (rather than being raised slightly above it) and also a stamped rather than etched "HELM" logo on the caseback. November 25, 2017: HELM Vanuatu Production Update Production of the HELM Vanuatu (4th production) is complete and we're currently conducting the water resistance testing. At this point, we expect to have watches available for purchase in early December. The only differences between this fourth production and previous production are a couple small adjustments to the caseback stamping. May 13, 2017: HELM Vanuatu Production Update Assembly of the HELM Vanuatu (third production) is running smoothly and we still anticipate shipping all pre-ordered watches by the end of May (at which time the Vanuatu will also be in stock again on the website and available for regular purchase). The third production of the HELM Vanuatu is well underway, and a limited quantity will soon be available for pre-order. One significant design change with this production is that the bezel is now interchangeable, with two options: A black PVD bezel with white markings (as per previous production) or a new brushed silver option with black markings. Both bezels will also be available separately for $25.00 each (when purchased with a watch) or $30.00 each (when purchased alone). Below are a few photos of a prototype of the silver bezel option. The production bezel will be nearly identical to the prototype except that the lumed triangle will be slightly smaller, with an engraved black outline. August 13, 2016: HELM Vanuatu Sales will Begin Monday, August 15th Thanks for your patience! May 1, 2016: Second Generation HELM Vanuatu in Production We're happy to announce that production of the 2nd generation Vanuatu is officially underway and should be completed by mid-August! The second generation features several significant spec improvements, including: A redesigned bezel ratcheting mechanism to ensure a firm, smoothly ratcheting bezel without play; filled rather than solid hands and Super-LuminNova BGW9 pigment for considerably brighter luminous output on the dial, hands and bezel; a stamped rather than etched caseback; higher profile crown teeth for better grip; larger diameter spring bars (2.0 mm); a DuPont Viton caseback gasket and single-sided bracelet screw pins.
